Details… Went to the bank to get euros and pounds sterling. The dollar is not worth as much! And pounds cost more than euros.
My Facebook page is filling up with lots of posts about the upcoming ceremonies…..it sounds like France is getting ready to PARTY! I read that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip headed there today….they were with us on Omaha Beach at the 50th anniversary. Maybe I’ll run into them again! HA!
A check of the weather in Bayeux tells me to bring the rain gear and some warm clothes. I knew that from last two times…it’s not balmy in the north of France. Of course, who cares, right??
Looking forward to to a lovely weekend and some frantic last minute stuff on Monday. Time goes so fast!
Hi Marianne,
Not only am I taking rain gear, but will also take hats and gloves. It looks like the wicked Normandy weather will be out for the ceremonies. When I say rain gear, I mean full camping rain jacket and rain pants. I will be ready this year!

David, you are so right! But we’re not doing this to bask in the sun, right?

Maybe the French feel they should party on D-Day, but hopefully they will take a moment to realize the horrific day as it was for the men who landed.

They do remember and they do realize the horror. As do the Belgians, Luxembourgers and Dutch. Shouldn’t mistake a celebration for lack of caring. They treat our vets like stars. They care for the many, many American graves in their countries. From the oldest to the very young, they cannot say Thank You enough.
You were in the Pacific theatre? What unit?
